Amendments to the U.S. Constitution

Changing the U.S. Constitution is a serious matter.

We intend to offer no changes to the original Constitution and only minor changed to the Bill of Rights. The "Founding Fathers" and "Framers" of the Constitution" knew that they were not perfect and left an avenue for changes to the Constitution via Amendments. But knowing that sometimes an incorrect change would be made, the "Framers" left us with the ability to correct that change. The Eighteenth Amendment (Prohibition of Liquor) was such an example and was repealed with the Twenty-First Amendment (Repeal of Prohibition).

The Sixteenth Amendment (Income Taxes) is another amendment that needs to be repealed. It was the failure of the Eighteenth Amendment to control the flow of liquor that led to the repeal of the amendment. Likewise, the ability to avoid taxes by providing legal loopholes and tax breaks for individuals and businesses has lead to the ineffectiveness of the tax code. In addition, many individuals do not report cash income thus side tracking the collection of taxes. Also, criminal elements do not pay taxes on any of their income. Repeal of the Sixteenth Amendment and returning to a consumption tax will remedy the current pitfalls of the Income Tax System.

The Sixteenth Amendment is a tax on individual's work. This has proven to be a deferment to individuals and to America. Our "Framers" did not intent to tax work or the work ethic. If they had wanted to tax work, then the "Framers" would have added provisions to the Constitution in Article I, Section 8, clause 1. But in this clause, what they did was authorized "...To lay and collect Taxes, Duties, Imposts and Excises". They also added the statement "But all Duties, Imposts and Excises shall be uniform throughout the United States". By not specifying that Taxes be uniform throughout the United States, left the ability for each state to adjusts its own tax rates.

If the "Framers" had intended us to have a progressive Income Tax, then why did we need the Sixteenth Amendment to amend the Constitution? It was never intended by the "Framers" and should be repealed.

Distinction must be made between American Civil Liberties as in the Constitution and American Civil Rights enacted by law. The 1964 Civil Right Act or the 1975 Voting Rights Act are laws enacted by Congress. Property Rights was one of the founding civil liberties in the Constitution. Today, Privacy Rights has moved to the forefront of current generation civil liberties.

The "Founding Fathers" contributions and the "Framers" created a document that is a balance between representative democracy and constitutionalism. There are times when the majority must act and there are times when the majority must be prohibited from acting when in conflict with the "Bill of Rights". There are many ways of interpreting the Constitution. It is our hope that these various ways will be expressed and a conscience will prevail as to what is needed.

We are purposing several amendments to the U.S. Constitution. Please review each of these amendments. Then review all of the Issues to learn more about the reasoning for the amendments.

We have become discouraged that the President and Congress cannot take effective action for the benefit of our nation. It is left up to the "We the People" to make these changes.

I hope you find these amendments reasonable and necessary for our nation to go forward into the 21th century.
